Suomenlinna - 29 Aug

On the first weekend in Helsinki I visited Suomenlinna with Lauri Malmi. Suomenlinna is the site of a sea fortress dating from 1748. At various time it was a base for armies from Sweden, Russia and Finland. Suomenlinna is a 15 minute ferry ride south from Helsinki.

Map of Suomenlinna.

Helsinki was part of Sweden.
