Berkeley, California - 8-12 August

The trip to California, was to present a paper at the International Computing Education Research workshop (ICER 2009) and attend a qualitative research methods workshop held at the University of California, Berkeley. Berkeley is located across the San Francisco Bay from San Francisco. The university campus is hugh stretching up the hills behind Berkeley. From various high points in Berkeley there were views of the Bay and the Golden Gate bridge.

View of the main part of the Berkeley campus from Lawrence Hall of Science. From this point I could see the Golden Gate Bridge - but not very clearly.

A model explaining DNA - outside the
Lawrence Hall of Science. Some deer roaming by a road on the campus.

Chez Panisse restaurant in north Berkeley - famous as the birthplace of California cuisine. Very expensive - I just looked at the outside.

Typical house in north Berkeley - many were made of wood.
Squirrel in a street tree.

View of San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate bridge from Indian Rock park, north Berkeley.

... another view.

On the top of Indian Rock.

Dinner in south Berkeley with Donald Chinn. Donald visited Monash for 10 weeks earlier this year.

One of the gates leading into the campus.

Raymond Lister acting a bit fool-ish.
