San Ramone, California 12-17 August

From Berkeley, Jan Miller and I took the train to San Ramone - south east of San Francisco - where we stayed with Ute and Andre Doles and their African Grey parrot, Ameila. During this time we visited San Francisco and the Monterey area (future posts).

Andre's birthday

Amelia outside her cage. Amelia has a vocabulary of around 150 words - mostly German.

During the day a squirrel comes into the house for food.

On the top of Mt Diablo - a short drive from San Ramone and the highest point in the area. From here we had views out to the San Francisco Bay.

Large pine cones

A scrub jay - I was hoping this was a blue jay so I could use it on my BlueJ lecture slides.

A raccoon on Mt Diablo.

Buying Mexican food "to go" . Much nicer food than Taco Bills

Flowers in the front garden
The Outback restaurant - an Australian theme.

Blooming Onion - crumbed and fried onion segements. A signature dish of the Outback restaurant. Not sure how Australian this is.

Main course - steak and sweet potato topped creamed butter and cinnamon.

  1. Judy the photos are great - beautiful scenery and spectacular views. Looks like you are having a fantastic time on OSP. However, you did miss out on a great seminar by Selby today... You'll just have to hurry up and return to hear all about it!

    Take care... Enjoy yourself.
We all miss you at Monash. Especially me.
    Cheers,
