Switzerland 13-17 July
Jan Miller and I travelled to Switzerland from Nantes - Jan to the Montreux jazz festival and I went to Interlaken to meet son Nick. From Interlaken Nick and I we were able to take short train rides into the alps. We spent three days walking in the sunshine - with great views of the Jungfrau, Eiger, Mönch and many other mountains. A highlight was a train trip through a tunnel in the Eiger and Mönch mountains to the Jungfraujoch near the top of the Jungfrau. An hour before we left Interlaken it started raining.
On the way to our hotel - Nick taking my luggage :-)

... another view of Interlaken.
Setting off on our first walk - from Lauterbrunnen to Mürren.
We passed through some farmland - sounds of cow bells all day.
Morning tea at Winteregg
Approaching Mürren
Information board about the Jungfrau - there were a number of these along the walk.
Hard to find a bad lunch spot - this one had a view of the Jungfrau.
Setting off on our walk on our second walk. On day 2 we walked from Pfingstegg (gondola from Grindelwald) to a glacier (Grindelwaldgletscher)

Day 3 we took the Jungfraubahn through the mountains to Jungfraujoch. This is a view point at 3454m just below the Jungfrau (4158m)

Graeme and I did that trip to Jungfraujoch in 1981 - it was great. I remember the food tasting really salty up there because the altitude affects the chefs' sense of taste - so it does not taste salty to them. Your photos bring back great memories - wish I was there!
