Gamla Uppsala - 20 Nov

Gamla Uppsala (Old Uppsala) is a short bus ride north of Uppsala. It is one of the most important ancient monument areas in Sweden.

Gamla Uppsala kyrka (Old Uppsala Church) built in 1164. According to legend it was built over a heathen temple from the Viking age

I visited Uppsala University to give a seminar and discuss project work with some people there. Uppsala is the fourth largest city in Sweden and about an hour north of Stockholm by train.

St Petersburg - Monday 16 Nov

I spent most of the day to looking around some more before catching the train back to Helsinki.
The Metro is very deep underground - I couldn't see the end of the escalator when I stepped on.

No worries - there is someone at the botton to take care of any problems.

The signs were mostly in Russian. It took time to decipher the Russian letters.
